A psychotherapist often diagnoses and treats mental/emotional disorders (such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, etc.) A professional coach does not enter the realm of diagnosis and treatment.
In my coaching, I focus on
- increasing each partner’s self-connection regarding one’s feelings and needs
- identifying the strengths of each partner that positively contribute to the relationship
- supporting each partner in looking at their own unhelpful behaviors that need attention
- helping both partners to interrupt destructive patterns in the moment
- replace unwanted patterns with truly effective ways of communicating, built from authenticity and new skills
- having each partner practice new ways of relating that positively impact the relationship
- developing a positive vision of the relationship that is co-created by both partners
